WISE WINTER CAMP@SWEDEN

The WISE Winter Camp is a collaboration with the Swedish Muslim for Freedom and Justice
(Svenska Muslimer For Fred Och Rattvisa (SMFR))

SMFR is a muslim movement in Sweden and is the fastest growing such organisation. They work in the political and educational sphere combating intolerance and ignorance among both muslims and non-muslims.  This collaboration with WISE is proposed to introduce Islamic worldview, understanding of secularism and the Muslim mind, a basic conceptual understanding of Islam, its foundations, the meaning and purpose of man in a secular society and the means of finding happiness. We are interested in questions that deals with identity, purpose and vision as a Muslim in confusing times with a lot of confusing information being spread around.

The goal for WISE conducted in Sweden is to introduce the teachings and understandings of Syed Muhammad Naquib Al Attas into the Swedish context, create legitimacy to its perspective, and create a foothold of the intellectual awareness that is provided through his work.

The initiative wish to find a way to not let the muslim ummah in Sweden succumb into a secular or a reactionary islam that focuses on just being the opposite of the West and details and instead find a state of building an identity of being something rather than a identity of being against something. At the same time it is also aimed to create an awareness of the creeping secularism that is entering the muslim mind and affecting us more and more as muslims and also transforming the understanding of the religion in itself among the muslim.

WISE@MESIR

WISE@MESIR is conducted in Malay to cater for the big number of Malay students (Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore and Thailand) studying in Egypt.

WISE MALAY

This weekly seminar runs on Saturday, during the first few years of its inception, the program spans three semesters every year. Since 2013, we have reduced the number of semesters to only one semester (16 weeks with 2 weeks allocated per module). Some of WISE “graduates” continued their studies at graduate and post-graduate levels in various fields, while some others go back to their respective professions with clarity of perspective, a fresh outlook, and a sense of mission.
